On Saturday April 22, 2017, after a hard fought battle, Andy Powers passed away surrounded by his closest of family. Andy’s battle ended shortly after 8:00 am at Decatur County Hospital, the same place he was born on May 7, 1978. In his short 38 years, Andy lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every moment. He was born the son of Kenny and Sharon Sue Powers and grew up in the Osgood Community. Andy met and married the love of his life Jennifer Smith from Liberty.
After attending Jac-Cen-Del High School, Andy entered the work force. He believed in hard work and giving an honest day. His work history included the manufacturing industry and the logging world. Most recently he was employed by Celadon as a semi driver, and logged many miles.
He was not one to pass up a good card game, if it was Euchre, Texas Hold’em or any poker, deal him in. He had a passion for the outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing and camping. He was an avid fan of the Bengals and often was seen wearing his hat in support. He always wanted to simply be called Andy, and being called Andrew would definitely get his attention.
Andy was preceded in death by his father Kenny Powers Sr. He is survived by his wife Jennifer of Greensburg, daughter Analee Rae Powers of Greensburg, mother Sharon Sue Powers of Osgood, brothers Scott Powers and David Ray Canada, and sister Bobbie Jo Powers all of Osgood.
A public visitation will be held Saturday April 29, 2017 from 10:00-11:00 am at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood, with a memorial service at 11:00 also at Neal’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Flatrock Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asked for memorials to be made out to them in care of Neal’s Funeral Home.
