Barbara Jean Sanford

Barbara Jean Sanford, age 82 of Osgood, IN passed away early Thursday morning, January 5, 2017 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was the daughter of the late DeAlton and Ruth Norman Sanford born September 14, 1934 in Monterey, California. Barbara lived most of her life in the Chicago area. There she had worked many years as a bookkeeper for Kay Fagg who owned a local cosmetology business. After her health began declining in early 2013, she was brought to Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood, to be near her sister, Shirley Buck.

She became a member of the Holy Family Church in Watertown, New York. During her life in Chicago, she had developed a great love for the Chicago Cubs and other sports as well. Under the direction of Shawn Negangard of Manderley, she actually got to attend a baseball game at Cincinnati between the Cubs and the Cincinnati Reds! Among other things that she had enjoyed in her life was music. She had a talent that she was able to sit down at a piano and actually play a song by ear! Family and friends knew when they went to see Barbara, she may talk to them in an abrupt way or be gentle as a lamb! That was just Barbara. She will be sadly missed by the employees at Manderley along with her sister Shirley and family.

Brother: Billy Sanford of FL Many nieces and nephews survive.

Two brothers preceded her in death, DeAlton and James Sanford.

A memorial service mass will be held Saturday , January 7, 2017 at 12:00 pm at St. Johns Catholic Church in Osgood. Doors open at 11:00 am .

Memorials may go to Our Hospice of Jennings County , Indiana.
