James Rutherford, 88, of Austin, TX formerly of Osgood, In passed away on Friday, November 19, 2010.

Jim worked as a clerk in the Osgood post office until his retirement. After his retirement, he worked at several other places around Ripley County. During WWII he served in the Army Air Corps as a tail gunner on a B-24 aircraft and was injured by flak fire over Weiner, Germany in 1943. He received the Air Medal, Silver Star and Purple Heart for his service.

Before moving to Texas, he was a member of the Osgood (IN) Methodist Church, Osgood Lodge #603 F&AM., Valley of Indianapolis Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite and the Osgood Lions Club. When he moved to Austin, TX in 1999, he became a member of Hill City Lodge #456 F&AM, the Greater South Austin Kiwanis and Faith United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, (James) Walter Rutherford & Nora (Starks) Rutherford of Sandusky, IN, brother, Cloyd Rutherford & sister Doris (Rutherford) Frensemeier, wives Virginia (Bean) Rutherford & Kathryn (Braley) Rutherford. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Rutherford, Austin, TX, step-children-Kathy (Tom) Caplinger, Shelbyville, IN; John (Melinda) Braley, Versailles, IN; Chris Braley, Madison; IN & Tena (Moody) Crews, Lexington, SC.; seven grandchildren & seven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews and other loving family members.

Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 P.M., Monday, November 22, 2010 in the Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Chapel.

On Friday, November 26th, a visitation will be held at Neal's Funeral Home from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm . There will also be Masonic Services.

Saturday morning,at 10:00 am, November 27th there will be graveside services only at Greendale Cemetery near Osgood. There will also be military graveside services by the Osgood AM Legion & the Napoleon VFW. Arrangements by: Neal's Funeral Home www.nealsfuneralhome.net
