Janet Eloise Chorpenning, age 79 of Versailles, IN passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN . She was born October 21, 1933 in Switzerland County, IN . Her parents were Russell & Ester Keith Kelley. She married Russell Chorpenning February 18, 1961.
Janet was a nursing graduate in 1955 from Bethesda School of Nursing located in Cincinnati, Ohio . She later continued her education receving her Ed.D .
She taught nursing in the early 1960's at Methodist Hospital located in Indianapolis, IN . Following this, she also taught nursing at Purdue & IU both in Indianapolis which finally became IUPUI of Indianapolis.
From 1999 to 2007, Janet served as the chief nursing consultant for the Indiana State Board of Health.
Janet owned & operated the Kelley's Bel-Air Drive Inn Theater of Versailles, IN . Her father, originally started this in 1950.

She had been involved in both of the church's in their music programs, sometimes as a leader of the music, actively singing & also playing the piano.
Janet loved her family & especially enjoyed watching her two grandchildren in their swimming & other sporting events.

Husband: Russell B. Chorpenning of Indianapolis
Son: Allan & wife Marie of Indianapolis.
Brother: Glen & Jackie Kelley of Batesville.
Sister-in-law: Barbara Kelley of Evansville, IN
Grandchildren: Andrew & Allison Chorpenning of Indianapolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Ivan Kelley & sister-in-law, Janet Kelley.
