The Delaware community lost a long time friend and advocate, Lois Louise Workman, age 72 passed away with her family close by early Saturday morning at UC Hospital in Cincinnati. She was born in Batesville on August 21, 1944, the daughter of Wayne and Virginia Roberts. She was around Delaware her entire life, and loved her community and the Methodist Church.
She graduated from Jac-Cen-Del and then married Gerald Workman on August 7, 1965. To this marriage they had 2 children, daughter Lora and son Michael. Lois loved to read, do crossroad puzzles, and sew. For many years, she enjoyed doing crafts and setting up a various shows throughout the area. Her true passion, though always remained her family, constantly placing them first.
She was a life long member of the Delaware United Methodist Church, a member of the Ripley County Homemakers, the Methodist Women’s Association, served as a board member for the Ripley County Historical Society. She had worked for the Ripley County Co-op, was a bookkeeper for Row Farms and retired from bookkeeping at Southeastern Indiana Independent Living Center in Versailles.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gerald in November of 2014, and sister Laura Lou Roberts. She is survived by daughter Lora (Eric) Cole of Vevay, son Michael of Osgood, and her raised and loved like daughters nieces Amy (Brian) McIntosh of Osgood, Dana (Jeremiah) Carson of Sunman, 11 grandchildren, and brothers James ( Pat) Roberts of Delaware, William (Virginia) Roberts of Vevay, John (Marsha) of Rochester, IN, David (Linda) of Jeffersonville, OH.
Services will be held on Saturday September 10, 2016 at the Delaware United Methodist Church with open visitation from 10-11 am, and memorial service at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers memorials maybe made to the Methodist Church or the Mudpike Cemetery Fund in care of Neals Funeral Home.
