Mary Ellen (Dunbar) Ahlrich

Mrs. Mary Ellen Dunbar Ahlrich, of Osgood, Indiana, passed away in the early morning hours on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Ripley Crossing in Milan, Indiana at the age of 92.

She entered this life on May 5, 1930 in Osgood to the late Everett Bateman Dunbar and Helen Marie Monroe Dunbar.  She was united in marriage to Marion Richard “Dick” Ahlrich on October 18, 1952 until his passing on May 2, 1986. This marriage of 33 years brought forth 4 children: Richard, Teresa, Christina and Anita.

She was a retired receptionist for an optometrist in Ripley County and was and enthusiastic volunteer for the Osgood Beautification Committee and the Osgood Historical Museum. She was a member of the Osgood Alumni Association and a lifelong member of the Osgood United Methodist Church. She was also an avid walker and enjoyed walking Osgood Trails.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 1 brother, James Robert Dunbar.

She will be missed by her son, Richard (Cinda) Neil Ahlrich of Osgood, Indiana; her daughters, Teresa (Teddy) Lynn Schuman of Shelbyville, Indiana, Christina Marie Lynch of Osgood, Indiana and Anita (Jerry) Louise Vollmer of Osgood, Indiana, 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Osgood United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 10 am until the time of service at 12 pm. Burial will follow at Mud Pike Cemetery in Delaware, Indiana.  Memorials may be given to Mud Pike Cemetery in care of the funeral home.  Online condolences may be placed at Nealsfuneralhome.net
