Mrs. Viola "Abbie" Mae (Borders) Bittner, age 88, of Osgood, Indiana, entered this life on January 15, 1926 in Rushville, IN. She was the loving daughter of the late Marcellous and Elnora Borders. She married William Bittner on October 16, 1976. Viola passed away early Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison.
Viola was passionate about her religion and had been serving the lord throughout her life. Her career involved working at Muscatatuck and Family Home Health in Versailles. Viola had attended Bible College and became an ordained minister. She went on to practice ministry for years and was a practicing pastor in Illinois and Indiana. She truly enjoyed working with children through her ministry and doing evangelistic work. She was a proud member of the Wesleyan Church in Versailles.
Viola will be sadly missed by close friends Jamie and Trina Schutte and Barbara Bowling, all of Versailles, along with Seth Schutte and Hayley Fossett. She is survived by step-daughter Shirley A. Childress of Covington, KY and nieces Sharon (Gene) Eaton of Napoleon and Betty Mace of Montana. She was preceded in death by her husband William Bittner in 2013, and also brother Emory Borders and sister Goldie Trobaugh.
Friends and family are asked to join for visitation on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Neal's Funeral Home in Osgood. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Neal's Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Wesleyan Church Fund in care of the funeral home.
