Wilma L. Moody Day, age 92, of Osgood passed away peacefully Monday, March 23, 2015 at Manderley Nursing Home. Wilma was born in Versailles, IN on January 10, 1923, the loving daughter of William and Lula (Starkey) Moody. She is survived by her husband, Robert Keith Day of Osgood and numerous nieces and nephews in various communities.
After attending school in Osgood, Wilma traveled to Ypsilanti, Michigan where she joined her sisters as a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II, helping to work on the wings of B-24 Bombers. After the war she returned to the Osgood area where she worked for 22 years at Triplett's Drug Store. She was united in marriage to Robert K. Day on January 5, 1968 and they were blessed with 47 years of marriage. Wilma enjoyed raising flowers and working needlepoint. Her favorite flower was always the red rose. Bob and Wilma loved to spend time traveling all over the United States and had even taken three Caribbean cruises.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents as well as brothers Garnet Moody, Robert Reynolds and Francis Moody; also sisters Violet McKown, Ruth Blake, Pat Olds, and Naomi Brunner.
In Lieu of flowers the family ask memorials be made in her memory to the New Testament Christian Church in Osgood in care of the funeral home. Visitation will be Friday March 27, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at the New Testament Chrisitan Church in Osgood, with funeral services at 7:00 p.m., also at the church. A private burial will be held at Cliff Hill Cemetery at a later date.
